Prior to her counselling career, Fabia served as a principal occupational therapist in a large acute hospital doing both physical and psychological rehabilitation within a multi-disciplinary setting. Her professional healthcare experiences and exposure to work with patients from different walks of life have enabled her to effectively engage her clients during counselling. She is able to deeply empathize and understand the complexities and profound pain of the struggles one may face in life. As a counsellor, Fabia has helped adults challenged by interpersonal issues with others in their families, social circles or in the workplace, as well as those who are overwhelmed by caregiver stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.
Fabia adopts a person-centred counselling approach and is able to integrate a variety of counselling perspectives & techniques from modalities such as narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, family system therapy as well as expressive therapies, that uses art-in-therapy. Her therapy emphasizes on providing individualized care for her clients through active listening, empathy and genuine presence. She offers a safe holding space to journey with her clients through their struggles whilst helping them to gain insights for personal change and growth. She believes in empowering her clients to discover their strengths from within to persevere on and find the courage to make positive changes one wishes to see in life; and that no one needs to walk this journey alone. In her free time, Fabia unwinds through music, singing, craft-work & baking. She also fondly enjoys family time spent with her husband and three beautiful children.

One of Fabia's clients was a female working adult who was facing multiple challenges in life from relationship issues, work stress and ongoing difficulties with her parents that led her to feel depressive. Fabia used a combination of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Expressive therapy (Using Art) to help her client process through the overwhelmingly painful emotions she was experiencing, as well as to address her negative thought patterns. After 25 sessions, her client found new adaptive ways of coping and developed a more balanced way of thinking, leading to a better concept of self & others. Her client was able to draw healthier boundaries in her life and make decisions that were in-line with her personal values. These positive shifts have helped client improved experience emotional stability and confidence in managing stress in life.

Another client that Fabia has helped was a mother who was emotionally overwhelmed by her role as the primary caregiver for her child who had been struggling with mental health concerns. She also felt helpless at trying to manage a strained relationship with her eldest child. Fabia supported this client using a Family Systems perspective, providing psycho-education on mental health and wellness, as well as equipping her client with practical parenting skills. After 8 sessions of counselling, her client has seen improvements in her personal well-being and is able to experience an improved quality of relationships with her family.
